Christmas presence

photo

Every tide comes and goes,
waves rising and breaking,
undertow under toes,
shifts our under standing:
Accept the natural flow;
our lives are built on sands,
all things will come and go,
so live now in 'nunc stans'.

The sea breathes like us all,
it's surface diaphragm
deep calming rise and fall,
speaking to us 'I am'.

See a world in a grain of sand,
and, like William Blake,
hold infinity in your hand.
Hands give, and take.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour
